The Charity
Since 1998, Spieren voor Spieren has been getting people moving based on the idea of ‘healthy muscles for sick muscles’ to beat all muscle diseases in children together.
In the Netherlands, there are 20,000 children with a muscle disease and every year, around 200 to 250 parents are told that their child has a serious muscle disease. With an enormous impact on the child and family. Walking, chewing, swallowing, breathing independently. Children with a muscle disease often cannot do this or can no longer do it. This requires a lot of care and adjustment. Many children and their families end up in an intensive medical process.
Spieren voor Spieren is committed to these children and their families and believes it is of the utmost importance to know at the earliest possible age whether a child has a muscle disease. Every day counts in the approach to muscle diseases. Because once a muscle is lost, it never comes back.
